A school library at last for Buckingham a few excerpts from the article: “Erickson said much of the credit for getting the library together goes to Oates and semi-retired Spanish teacher Carol Buchanan.” “It’s so cool, so rewarding when a student returns a book and says, ‘This book changed my life,’” Oates said. “The irony of all this is that the part of my job that I don’t get paid for is the part I love the most,” Oates said. “It really is cool.” — Mrs. Oates was my favorite teacher in high school; she’s been able to set up a library despite the lack of funding. I also count her as the person responsible for my love of reading and I’m sure there are many more former students of hers that would say the same. I’m proud of what she is doing at Buckingham!
